Airfix Hawk 81-A-2

Sadly and despite the ambiguity of the box art a little bird tells me that Airfix will suggest Matt 28 Camouflage Grey for the under surface colour of their AVG Tomahawk. The Tamiya Sky Grey syndrome strikes again.

As the saying goes "A lie can get halfway around the world while the truth is still putting its boots on" and nowhere is this more apparent than in the whole sorry saga of the Tomahawk's supposed "sky grey" under surfaces. I'm not even going to bother to demolish 28 as a match to Dupont's 71-021 from a colour science perspective - what's the point? And I'll say nothing about the lined up Zeros either!

  1. Nick,
I admire your perseverance in trying to get a more factual and better researched appreciation of paints and colours and contracts and specifications understood by an audience that seems all to happy to 'go with the flow' and not to understand the evidence presented before them. Keep up your research and I look forward to the day when you might be able to share it with a wider audience in a way that leaves them no where to go, but to accept the facts, not the myth.
    Regards.
